Last October 24, 2025, the Office of the Secretary to the Sangguniang Panlungsod (OSSP) joyfully celebrated its 86th founding anniversary at QCX, Quezon City Memorial Circle. OSSP is one of the first departments established within the Quezon City Hall, founded in 1939.

This year’s anniversary theme is environmental commitment, which was evident throughout the program, from eco-friendly decorations to reminders of our shared responsibility.

The program was hosted by Ms. K Pizarro, followed by an inspirational message from our department head and the Secretary to the Sanggunian, Atty. John Thomas Alferos, III, reflecting on our journey through the years—our victories, challenges, and growth. He reminded us that learning never stops, and that embracing change, practicing patience, and trusting in our own timing are key to moving forward.

The day was filled with fun games and sweet treats for birthday celebrants, especially Ma’am Aleta, who celebrated both her birthday and retirement—a touching moment filled with laughter, stories, and well-wishes from colleagues who’ve shared the journey with her.

With gratitude for the past, joy in the present, and hope for the future, the OSSP remains committed to serving with heart and respect for the people of Quezon City. The celebration encouraged us to look ahead and continue building a greener, healthier Quezon City. Here’s to 86 years—and many more to come.
